We will be parading at the Cenotaph to commemorate the Battle of Britain (July thru October 1940).
September 2nd was also the anniversary of the official end of World War II. The formal surrender of the Japanese took place on the battleship USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay, bringing the Second World War to a close. Altogether 1,086,771 Canadians, including 49,252 women, served in the armed forces. Total fatalities were 41,992.
2024 also marked the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Royal Canadian Air Force.
