There will be a Cenotaph Ceremony at the Okotoks Cenotaph on Sunday 4th May at 1100am to commemorate The Battle of the Atlantic, VE Day and the Liberation of the Netherlands.
The Battle of the Atlantic was the longest naval campaign of World War II, lasting from 1939 to 1945. It involved a struggle for control of the Atlantic sea routes between the Allied and Axis powers, primarily Germany, as the Allies needed to transport supplies and troops across the ocean. The Germans aimed to disrupt this flow with their U-boats, while the Allies countered with convoys and anti-submarine warfare.
